NAB is duty bound to eradicate the corruption in our society-Chairman NAB

Multan,Sept 22nd: Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB said that Corruption is mother of all evils. NAB is committed to root out corruption as eradication of corruption is our national duty. NAB is committed to recover looted money from corrupt with iron hands by using all its resources and deposit in national exchequer. He said these remarks while addressing to NAB Officers during his farewell visit to NAB Multan.
The Director General NAB Multan Mr. Atiq ur Rehman in his welcome address said that I welcome you on behalf of officers and officials of NAB Multan on your farewell visit to this bureau. We feel honored and highly grateful for travelling to this far off station for farewell visit. NAB Multan will always remember you not only for the special attention you have always paid in resolving the problems at formative phase but also personal contribution as an architect of establishing NAB Multan as well. He said that the idea of spreading the operational activities vigorously in the far-fling areas of county has left indelible impact in terms of out-reach, service delivery and responsiveness in combating corruption in Southern Punjab. NAB Multan within short span of two years has been successful in bringing about social and cultural change to palpable extent in the society, under your able leadership. He said that processing of over 5200 complaints is witness to our success story of public confidence and trust reposed on NAB Multan.
While highlighting the performance of NAB Multan, DG NAB Multan said that NAB Multan conducted 356 Complaint Verification, 121 Inquiries, 58 Investigations and recovered Rs. 1392 million in cash and 81.15 million indirect recoveries besides retrieval of hundreds of plots and state land and returned to rightful owners. At the same time, we have conducted 13 Seminars, 4 PPRA workshops at District level, established 11 Character Building Societies (CBS) in Universities/Colleges and Schools to aware youth about the ill effects of corruption at an early age. The hard work, Commitment and dedication of NAB officers/officials Multan are very much visible in reducing corruption and corrupt practices from housing, education, public procurement, land revenue sectors.
He said that Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB while heading National Accountability Bureau, NAB under the given circumstances has performed exceptional well. You have not only steered the ship out of the tumultuous storms but also set very high standards of leadership. He said that innovations and improvements under your tenure in terms of introducing new initiatives of Combined Investigation Team (CIT), Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES), Internal Accountability Mechanism (IAM), Timelines, quantitative and qualitative posed annual and midterm inspections, merit based recruitments, holding of SAARC conference etc. which will be remembered in golden words. He said that externally the country has moved forward in Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranking among the global community. Summing up the words, I once again on behalf of officers and staff members of NAB Multan express lot of gratitude for visiting to this bureau. We all pray and wish healthy, happy and successful life in your future endeavors.
He said that Chairman NAB has always been remained a guiding force for us in discharge of our duties without any fear and favor. He said that under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB, NAB Multan has been actively perusing the cause of eradication of corruption and nabbing corrupt through a holistic approach of Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board. He said that memories of last four years remind us the professionalism, transparency, hard work, honesty, commitment, dedication and merit. He said, due to your dynamic leadership, today NAB has rejuvenated, strengthened and working with the realization that eradication of corruption is our national duty. He said that our success as the apex anti-corruption agency inspires us to work more vigorously and double our efforts to achieve the goal of Zero Corruption, 100 Percent Development in Pakistan. He said that strong leadership like yours led the organization in right direction with proactive Anti-Corruption Strategy which was implemented in letter and spirit, due to which NAB Multan’s performance remained excellent. We have nabbed the corrupt and deposited millions of looted money of people in the national exchequer. He lauded the remarkable services of Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB and the measures he has taken during his 4 years tenure as Chairman NAB which have started yielding positive results.
The Chairman NAB while addressing as chief guest to officers/officials of NAB Multan said that the valuable time, I have spent in NAB during performing responsibilities as Chairman NAB, I have tried my level best to take steps for eradicate of corruption by rejuvenating NAB as Corruption is mother of all evils. He said today NAB is absolutely committed to root out corruption in all its forms and manifestations with iron hands. He said that due to number of new initiatives taken during my tenure, PILDAT, Transparency International and World Economic Forum appreciated Pakistan due to NAB efforts. He said that NAB under his guidance and supervision perfected its procedures to make NAB more effective and proactive in order to come up to expectations of the nation. Our overall performance remained excellent as compared to other Anti-Corruption Organizations. Today NAB has rejuvenated and the hard work being put in by NAB officers/officials is commendable. He said nation is proud upon you as you are performing your duties even in odd hours with absolutely professionally, transparently according to law. NAB during the last four years has recovered Rs. 50/- billion from corrupt and deposited in the national exchequer which a record achievement as no other Anti Corruption agency in Pakistan has recovered such a huge amount in short span of three years. He said that the figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations are almost double as compared to the same period of 2014 to 2017. He said that NAB since its inception, has recovered Rs. 290 billion and deposited in the national exchequer which is indicative of hard work, dedication, professionalism and transparency of all ranks of NAB officers/officials in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism.
He said that today, NAB is the chairman of SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum. NAB is the only Organization in the world to whom China has signed MoU in order to streamline cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and oversee projects to be undertaken under CEPC. He said that NAB has established its first Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in Islamabad which has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. He said that NAB has rationalized its workload and timelines have been prescribed for efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of cases putting a maximum limit of 10 months - from complaint verification-to-inquiry-to-investigation and finally to a reference in the Accountability Court. NAB has also introduced a new System of Combine Investigation Team (CIT) in order to benefit from the experience and collective wisdom of senior supervisory officers, a system of CIT comprising of Director, Additional Director, Investigation Officer and a Senior Legal Counsel has been put in place. This will not only lend quality to the work but also ensure that no single individual can influence the proceedings. The results of CIT are very encouraging.
The Chairman NAB said that NAB Multan is one of the important Regional Bureaus of NAB. It plays prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB. He appreciated the performance of NAB Multan and directed all ranks of officers of NAB Multan to work more vigilantly, diligently and honestly in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country. He said performance of all wings of NAB Multan under the supervision of Mr. Atiq ur Rehman, Director General NAB Multan is appreciated and hoped that NAB Multan will continue its excellent performance in future.
