Three policemen martyred in Peshawar attack

Gunmen riding a motorcycle ambushed a police patrol van on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Thursday evening, killing three policemen and injuring a fourth. The policemen were on a routine patrol in the Ghaz Chowk area, which falls in the jurisdiction of Chamkani police station, when gunmen opened fire on their van shortly before iftar, SP Rural Furqan Bilal told mediamen.
The police retaliated and took down one of the attackers, he added.
SP Bilal identified the martyred policemen as constables Itikhab Alam, Shahid and Umar Hayat. The injured head constable, identified as Shiraz, was driven to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where medics said his wounds were life threatening.
