Pakistan Army befitting responded to Indian troops’ unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday, killing five soldiers and destroying a number of posts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Indian army from cross-border posts targeted Pakistani posts and civilian population in Nezapir, Sabzkot and Kayani sectors in which a soldier, two civilians embraced martyrdom. Two troops and five people also sustained injuries.Indian guns fell silent due to effective engagement of the Pakistani forces, the military’s media wing added.

“Today, the director general (SA & SAARC) summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces in Baroh and Tandar Sectors on July 18, 2017, resulting in martyrdom of two civilians, including one woman in Barho Sector and a man in Tandar Sector, and injuries to 6 others,” spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said in a statement on Wednesday.Protesting against the ‘deplorable’ act by Indian occupied forces in held Kashmir, the spokesperson said the action was contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.
According to the communiqué, the nuclear-armed neighbour was urged to respect the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two nations besides calling for investigation into other such incidents and instructing the Indian forces to respect the truce in letter and spirit to maintain peace along the de facto border.
The Indian side was also urged to permit the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
On Monday, an Indian soldier was killed during an exchange of fire along the de facto border in held Kashmir. The incident came just a day after four Pakistani soldiers drowned into Neelum River as Indian troops targeted their vehicle along the LoC.
