Cell phones of worshippers in aitekaf at Karachi mosque stolen while they slept

Men sitting for the Islamic ritual of aitekaf — where one stays at a mosque for some time and cuts of unnecessary communication with the outside world — were given some assistance by enterprising thieves who stole their cell phones.

The unusual incident occurred at a mosque in Block-7 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi on Wednesday morning.
Police said the worshippers were sleeping after fajr prayers when the thieves snuck inside the mosque and took away their cell phones and other valuables.
CCTV cameras at the mosque recorded the theft.
The footage shows two men wearing white shalwar kameez entering the mosque. One of them had a black bag hanging from his shoulder. They collected the cell phones, wallets and other items belonging to the worshippers who were sleeping at the time.
The police said the suspects had entered the mosque pretending that they had arrived there to offer fajr prayers.
A case has been registered and further investigation is under way, they added. The suspects were still at large when this report was filed.
