According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), army troops conducted an IBO in Ping area of FR Tank against Asmatullah Shaheen group of the TTP.
“Four wanted high profile terrorists: Commander Zaman alias Toofan, Umar, commander Wasiullah and commander Zulamdin alias Zulmat were killed,” the statement said on Monday. “Weapons and ammunition also recovered.”
The news was also confirmed to South Punjab News via telephone by security officials.
The group was involved in target killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom in DI Khan, Tank and surrounding areas, the ISPR added.
Shaheen was an important member of TTP Shura, and was killed by another TTP faction due to internal rift in 2014.
Pakistan Army has stepped up action against militants in the tribal belt following a spree of attacks that claimed over 100 lives across the country last week.
